Boots & Hearts - Day Four – Sunday, August 4th, 2013

The morning started off with running into a sleepy Dierks Bentley in our hotel lobby as we were on our way to Mosport for Gospel Brunch hosted by Willie and Jace from Duck Dynasty. Unsure of what to expect, the Dynasty guys did a great job keeping the impressively large crowd (for 11am on a Sunday morning after two days of binge drinking) entertained. The session did turn quite religious for such a diverse crowd, but we suppose the title Gospel Brunch should’ve clued everyone in.

Boots & Hearts – Day Three - Saturday, August 3rd, 2013

Day three of the festival started off with a media release notifying ticket holders that no more campers would be allowed entry, additionally, many parking spots were unavailable as a result of Friday night’s storm. As can be expected, this caused uproar on Boots and Hearts social media outlets – with fans scrambling for answers or a “Plan B” from festival organizers. We also learned that many concertgoers were turned away at the gates Friday evening for safety concerns – unbeknownst to anyone lucky enough to get inside and enjoy the show.

We headed out to Bowmanville a little nervous about what we were going to encounter– angry fans storming the gates? Even bigger line-ups? A revolt in tent city? To our surprise, everything was quiet, normal and the traffic situation was better than Friday. . Other than many cars abandoned from the night before; it was an easy entrance, no waiting, and smooth sailing for entering. Most of the mud pits had dried up and the sun was shining.

Boots &Hearts Music Festival - Day Two - Friday, August 2nd, 2013

The She’s Gone Country crew headed up to Bowmanville, Ontario on the evening of Friday, August 2nd for the 2nd Annual Boots and Hearts Festival. For those of you who don’t know (and are living under a rock) Boots and Hearts has quickly become the premiere country music festival in Canada, bringing together a weekend of some of the biggest stars country music has to offer. It was Day Two of the event, but Day One for us due to some weather issues on the Thursday night. The Canadian Country night looked like a ton of fun, despite the rain!

Friday night kicked off with Canada’s own Dean Brody taking the stage, performing his many hits – Bob Marley, Canadian Girls, Friday (we only wish Great Big Sea was there!) and the ever appropriate Dirt…er should we say mud – which was what we were all standing in for the show. Many concertgoers embraced the elements, creating a mudslide through the grass as Dean played.
