Blown Away by Carrie's Generosity

While many of country music's hottest stars are reaching out to help in the tragedy of the Oklahoma tornadoes, such as hometown boys Blake Shelton and Toby Keith's benefit concerts, Oklahoma's own Carrie Underwood has announced she's helping out with a little cash.... $1 MILLION worth!

Carrie's generosity is much needed as officials estimate more than $2 billion US of damage, including 13,000 homes were destroyed or otherwise affected.

I have watched the devastation in my home state of Oklahoma over the past several days with great sadness.  With the help of my fans who attended my concerts over the past year, we can offer the Red Cross a little extra help in comforting those affected by the recent tornados," says Carrie.

The Red Cross has responded to Carrie's generosity with a statement: “The impact of the tornados in Oklahoma and the Midwest was devastating and the road to recovery will be long for many families.  Through the generosity of Carrie, the American Red Cross can quickly respond with shelter, food and comfort now and with lasting help as they move toward recovery.”

Way to go Carrie - Good Girl indeed!!

With the end of the 2012-2013 television season coming to an end, the fates of many television shows still up in the air and the demise of others, fans of the hit show Nashville can rest easy. The scandalous drama about the lives of some of the city's famous and infamous fictional country music stars has been renewed by ABC for another season.

The television show's soundtrack, a mix of original and cover country selections, has also garnered critical acclaim for song selection and cast performances and both Volumes released to date have experienced successful sales.

Tim McGraw supports veterans with HomeFront program

Country superstar/philanthropist Tim McGraw is working on his nationwide program known as HomeFront in partnership with Chase and Operation Homefront. The HomeFront program is set up to award mortgage-free homes to wounded warriors and service members in need of help at each concert stop on McGraw's Two Lanes of Freedom summer tour. Operation Homefront's Homes on the Homefront Program will donate the homes.
The program was launched last year and awarded 26 newly renovated mortgage-free homes to deserving military familes. The homes were provided by Chase. The number of homes will be doubled this year by McGraw, Chase and Operation Homefront to award a home at each of the 31 stops on McGraw's tour. The program allowed McGraw, who has a strong interest and history in aiding veterans and military families, a new way to show his support and honor those who service his country.
McGraw said; “Launching our HomeFront program made last summer so much more special than I could have originally imagined. I can honestly say that I got as much – or more – out of the experience than the veterans who received the new homes and assistance. These families made an incredible mark on me, and I'm more grateful than I've ever been for the sacrifices they make every day to serve our country. I'm just honored to be a part of this program, and I look forward to working with Chase and Operation Homefront to take it even further this summer."

The Two Lanes of Freedom 2013 tour will kick off tonight in Birmingham, Alabama and is being presented by Pennzoil.

Dixie Chick Natalie Maines releases first solo album! Listen now!

Dixie Chick Natalie Maines' first solo album, entitled Mother, is set to be released next Tuesday, May 7th. Fans of the little woman with the big voice have been fiending for some new music from the frontwoman since the Chick's went on hiatus in 2007.
The Dixie Chicks dominated the charts throughout the last decade, but suffered a conservative backlash when Maines was vocal about her left-wing leanings. Despite the trials and tribulations Maines was faced with in the years to follow, she has become recognized as a fearless activist as much as she is regarded as an intense musical talent.
Mother was borne of the changes in Maines' life and beliefs and is far from a country release, despite the existence of a song penned for the Dixie Chicks' 2006 album Taking The Long Way on the tracklist. Co-produced by Grammy-winning singer, songwriter and guitar genius Ben Harper, Mother is a diary entry of cover songs that showcase Maines' compassion, fearlessness and incredibly strong vocal range.
The album includes Patty Griffin's Silver Bell, the Pink Floyd classic title track, her buddy Eddie Vedder's ballad Without You and Dan Wilson's Free Life. As a fan of Jeff Buckley, I was a little wary that her cover of Lover, You Should've Come Over would lack the angst needed to do the song justice, but Maines' surprised me by not only doing it justice, she floored me with the impeccable tone in her voice as she mastered every note flawlessly. Take It On Faith, is another impressive and emotional track on the album, a new song co-written by Maines.
Mother is currently streaming on NPR's website for fans to get a first taste, a week before the album's release. Go Listen HERE

Jason Aldean files for divorce & warns Idol fling of media backlash

It has been a rocky few months for Jason Aldean's personal life. He made headlines when he was spotted locking lips in public on the Sunset Strip in Los Angeles while in town for a concert. It made headlines because the woman was American Idol Season 11 contestant , now NBA cheerleader Brittany Kerr and not his wife of 12 years, high school sweetheart, Jessica Ussery. At the time a rep for the singer had said that Aldean and his wife were “having problems” and the couple separated shortly afterwards.

Aldean and Ussery had initially tried to reconcile in November, even walking the red carpet at an award show together back in November. On April 26, Aldean filed for divorce in Williamson County, Tennessee, citing “irreconcilable differences.” The divorce documents were filed under Jason Williams and Jessica Ussery Williams (Did You Know... Aldean was born Jason Aldine Williams.) TMZ has obtained the docs HERE
Though initially quiet on the topic, Aldean has released at official statement on the matter through PEOPLE magazine. In the statement Aldean says:
"This is a really tough time for my entire family. Jessica and I have been together since we were teenagers. We've been through a lot of ups and downs over the years as we grew up together as a couple. She will always be important to me because she is the mother of my children. I know that we will both always make our daughters our number one priority. I've learned that everyone always rushes to judgement when they hear news like this. That's really hard because no one knows anything about our relationship but us. I understand that because of my job, I have to go through a lot of this in the public eye, but for my girls' sake I really wish people would give us some level of privacy and at the very least be respectful of them."

The couple has two daughters together – Keeley, 10 and Kendyl, 5.

According to TMZ, sources connected to Brittany Kerr have confirmed that Aldean placed a “courtesy call” last week to inform Kerr of his divorce plans and warn her of the impending media firestorm. Kerr has since shut down her social media pages and has avoided the public eye.

Listen to Pistol Annie's new album Annie Up now!!

Pistol Annies, the country girl super-group comprised of Miranda Lambert (aka Lone Star Annie), Angaleena Presley (aka Holler Annie) and Ashley Monroe (Hippie Annie), are gearing up to release their new album Annie Up. The follow-up to their chart-topping debut album, Hell On Heels (it debuted at number 1 on Billboard's Top Country Albums chart) is set to be released next Tuesday, May 7th

From first single Hush Hush about getting inebriated at a dysfunctional family gathering but the family knows its best to keep the dirty little secrets hush hush to the O, Sister Where Art Thou-esque Damn Thing with banjo, washboard and possible spoon accompaniment, the new album is a great mix of catchy southern harmonies, painfully pensive airy melodic ballads (Dear Sobriety) and southern sisterhood anthems (Girls Like Us).

Being Pretty Ain't Pretty highlights the trials and tribulations a girl's gotta go through to make herself presentable (Being pretty aint pretty/ Takes all day long/ Spend all your money/ Just to wipe it all off/ You spray on your perfume/ You spray on your tan/ Get up in the morning/ Do it over again/ Being pretty ain't pretty at all). The sexy, bluesy I Feel A Sin Coming On sounds like you may be facing some naughty temptation at any given moment.

Don't Talk About Him, Tina is a relatable ditty trying to convince a girlfriend she's better off without an ex, to put her lipstick on and leave the cowboy behind. I Hope You're The End of My Story is a ballad of romantic heartfelt acknowledgement of finding the love of your life and hoping this is forever (Psh, who can relate to that?!). Loved By a Workin' Man is an homage to the man's man and the ways he knows how to make his woman feel like a princess (He likes to get dirty, but he cleans up good/ He drinks with his buddies, but he prays when he should/There ain't nothin' better than, being loved by a workin' man)....

Anyway, you don't need me to talk about it, the full album is streaming on Amazon so just go listen to it for yourself here: Pistol Annie's Annie Up Album
